Welcome back from the 2nd edition of the Acting Arena.
As a casting director deeply committed to seeing talent grow and thrive in Uganda and across Africa, I want to say thank you to every actor who stepped on stage, every director, producer, and most importantly, every supporter who showed up on Friday.
Watching performers bring their monologues to life was more than just entertainment; it was a reminder of why platforms like this matter. By uniting the creative community to support actors, we are investing in their futures rather than just applauding them for a job well done.
Why the Acting Arena Matters?
This is one of the greatest platforms available to actors today, particularly those in Uganda.
It’s not just about performing. It’s about visibility, learning, and building a body of work in a low-pressure, high-potential environment. You’re given time to plan, rehearse, and polish your performance. You walk away with experience, exposure, and a chance to win prize money.
In a country where only a handful of feature films make it to cinemas or festivals each year and each film offers fewer than 20 roles, it’s easy to see how long the wait for a “big break” can be.
The Acting Arena changes that.
It offers a stage when others don’t.
It creates space when opportunities feel limited.
And it does so with intention and quality.
What You Gain as an Actor
Participating in the acting arena is a small investment with big returns:
- You sharpen your performance skills.
- You perform in front of real industry professionals.
- You gain visibility in the casting and film community.
- You walk away with usable material, your performance can become part of your reel or
portfolio.
Backed by Uganda’s Industry Leaders
The Acting Arena is proudly powered by Yenze Theatre, Uganda’s most respected acting school and a key driver of artistic development.
It’s also supported by Ideal Casting, Uganda’s leading casting and talent agency. We represent between 200 and 200–300 talents annually, and we’re always scouting for actors who are serious about their craft. When we see someone invest in themselves, it makes it easier to invest in them, too.
We’re joined by Cinema UG, which plays a vital role in promoting and marketing film-related content across the country.
And most importantly, we’re supported by the public, people who believe in the arts and choose to uplift creatives.
